Metal prices in the international market have been reeling under pressure and trading cautious as the European Commission (EC) has imposed a new anti-dumping duties on steel products from China. EC imposed anti-dumping duty of 5-36% on hot-rolled steel products imported from China.
BSE Metal index is trading marginally lower by 5 points at 2981 level. Metal stocks are trading with mixed sentiments in pre-lunch hours on Tuesday. Metal stocks like Vedanta Limited, NMDC, Welspun Corporation and Coal India are in red zone while MOIL, Hindustan Zinc, SAIL, NALCO and Hindalco are trading higher by around 0.5%.
There are 1099 advances, 428 declines and 416 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive undertone floating in the market.
At 11 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 31165 up 69 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9633 up 17 points. A total of 61 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 34 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.5% at 14866, while BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.73% at 15569. Some buying activity is seen in Capital Goods, Banks, Pharma, Auto, while IT, Metal are showing weakness on BSE.
ACC, Bosch, Ultratech Cements, Bank of Baroda, HDFC are among the gainers, whereas Tech Mahindra, Vedanta, Tata Motors, Wipro, Eicher Motors are losing sheen on NSE. The INDIA VIX is down 2.58% at 11.12.
