The BSE Metal is the top losing index in the morning session on Friday. It is down by 1% at 10,944. Hindalco, Vedanta and Tata Steel are contributing majorly to the index losses and dragging it to lower levels.Hindalco is down 1.6% at Rs 188.45 per share, Vedanta is down 1.2% at Rs231.25 per share and Tata Steel is also down by 1.1% at Rs 508.50 per share.
Other stocks in the index viz. Jindal Steel is down 2.5% at Rs 118 per share, JSW Steel is down 2.2% at Rs 193 per share, SAIL is down 1.8% at Rs 57.35 per share, NMDC is down 1.4% at Rs 107 per share and Coal India was also trading lower by 0.5% at Rs 244 per share.The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 31,214 down 76 points, while Nifty is trading at 9,597 down 32 points. A total of 15 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 27 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE mid-cap Index is trading down 0.99% at 14,616, while BSE small-cap Index is trading down 1.04% at 15,447.Some buying activity is seen in Healthcare and Information Technology indices, while Auto, Capital Goods and Metal indices are showing weakness on BSE.Lupin, Power Grid, Aurobindo Pharma and TCS are among the gainers, IOC, Adani Ports, Hindalco and Tata Steel are losing on the NSE.The INDIA VIX is up 2.4% at 11.4.
