Larsen and Toubro is the top Nifty gainer trading higher by 0.9% at Rs 1766 per share. The stock witnessed equity exchange through the block deals in the morning hours. The company has recently bagged an order from state owned NHPC for 50 MW solar project. The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 31219 down 78 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9615 down 37 points. A total of 33 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 29 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.01% at 14844, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.15% at 15703.Some buying activity is seen in Capital Goods, Telecom, and Consumer Durables while Oil & Gas, Energy, Finance are showing weakness on BSE. LT, Hindustan Unilever, Reliance, Asian Paints and Bank of Baroda are among the gainers, whereas Lupin, ONGC, Eicher Motors, BPCL and Power Grid are losing sheen on NSE in the first trading hour.The INDIA VIX is up 1.05% at 10.77.
