Bank Nifty touched its all-tie high of 24251 level in the morning hour on Thursday. Kotak Mahindra Bank is top gainer in the index trading at Rs 1012.5 per share, up by Rs 18.3 per share or 1.84%. Axis Bank and IDFC Bank are also trading in positive territory, up by over 1%.
Canara Bank Q1FY18 results came in mixed versus street estimates. NII for the quarter was 3.8% higher than street estimates of Rs.2613 crore. While, net profit for the quarter came 17.4% below the street estimates of Rs.304 crore. The stock has been trading at around Rs 353 per share, down by nearly 5%.There are 904 advances, 615 declines and 434 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting fairly positive sentiments floating in the market.
The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 31984 up 29 points, while Nifty is trading at 9904 up 5 points. A total of 48 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 13 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.06% at 15249, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.33% at 16026.
Some buying activity is seen in Energy, FMCG, Telecom and Capital Goods while Auto, Consumer Durables and Metal are showing weakness on BSE.
ONGC, Ambuja Cement, Kotak Bank, ACC and Axis Bank are among the gainers, whereas Asian Paints, Infosys, Hero MotoCorp, Vedanta and Hindalco are losing sheen on NSE.The INDIA VIX is up 0.59% at 11.32.
