Nifty closed at 9,915 up by 29 points, whereas BSE Sensex closed higher by 54 points at 32,074.BSE Mid-cap index closed higher by 0.07% at 15,197. BSE Small-cap index closed higher by 0.01% at 15,910. India VIX closed higher by 2.5% at 11.4 level.There were 656 advances, 697 declines and 53 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting mixed sentiments floating in the market.Wipro, Ultra Tech Cements and Vedanta are the top Nifty gainers, whereas ITC, GAIL and Coal India are the top Nifty losers.
Nifty Bank for the first time ever closed above 24000 level gaining 77 points at 0.32 % on today’s trade.Salasar Techno Engineering from the steel sector has come up with initial public offerings (IPO). On its last day of subscription on Monday, the IPO issue got oversubscribed by 93.54 times as of 1500 hours.Cement stocks during early Monday’s trade witnessed a surge in share prices as the demand for the cement sector is likely to pick up on account of benefits from GST and increased government spending on public infrastructure.
The cement industry will also benefit as cement prices may dip to 30% because of elimination of blockage time at state check posts post the GST implementation.Meanwhile on Monday’s trade, Ambuja Cements closed higher by 1.5% at Rs 266.00 per share, Burnpur Cements closed higher by 1.6% at Rs 9.10 per share, Ultratech Cement closed higher by 3.1% at Rs 4350.00 per share and Birla Corporation closed higher by 1.1%at Rs 936.60 per share.
