Benchmark indices ended Wednesday’s trade in gains. BSE Sensex touched its intra-day high of 31,978 level. Nifty Bank touched it record high on today’s trade at 24,180 level.NSE Nifty closed at 9,899 up by 72 points, whereas BSE Sensex closed higher by 244 points at 31,955.BSE Mid-cap index closed higher by 1% at 15,258. The index on Wednesday’s trade touched its fresh record high at 15268 level. BSE Small-cap index closed higher by 0.99% at 15,947. India VIX closed lower by 2% at 11.2.

There were 1114 advances, 516 declines and 330 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting positive undertone floating in the market.Aurobindo Pharma, Coal India, Bharti Airtel and Hindalco are the top Nifty gainers, whereas UltraTech Cements, ACC, Bharti Infratel and Ambuja Cements are the top Nifty losers.
Telecom stocks were soaring higher, Idea Cellular Ltd. was the top gainer. The stock closed higher at 9% at Rs 95.00 per share, Bharti Airtel closed higher by 3.2% at Rs 421.35 per share and Himachal Futuristic Communications closed higher by 6% at Rs 15.84 per share.Cigarette maker ITC regained its momentum from Tuesday’s steep fall. The stock closed higher by 2.4% at Rs 291.50 per share.
