NSE Nifty closed at 9,763 up by 97 points, and BSE Sensex closed higher by 329 points at 31,690.BSE Mid-cap index closed higher by 0.69% at 15,044. BSE Small-cap index closed higher by 0.43% at 15,899. India VIX closed lower by 1.4% at 10.7 level.There were 965 advances, 516 declines and 472 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting a positive undertone floating in the market.TCS, Bank of Baroda, Tata Motors and Tata Power are the top Nifty gainers, whereas Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC, ITC and Eicher Motors were the top Nifty losers.
First demutualised electronic exchange in the country, National Stock Exchange (NSE) unexpectedly witnessed a technical glitch in the Monday’s morning trade leading to shutting down both cash and F&O markets for some time.The technical team at the exchange was working hard to reopen the trading session but first few attempts failed. NSE’s trade started normally at 12:30 PM in both cash and F&O segment.
On the first few minutes of successful re-opening of trade, Nifty touched its all-time high and continued to move upwards in the entire trading session. Nifty touched its lifetime high of 9,772. Sensex also touched its all-time high of 31,768 level.IT heavyweight stocks, TCS and Infosys were top contributors to the Sensex gains. TCS closed at Rs 2,444 per share, up by 4.79% and Infosys closed at Rs 957 per share, up by 2.24%.
Reliance Industries Limited topped in volume traded and closed at Rs 1,491 per share, up by 0.01%.Divi’s Lab had the top turnover in the Monday’s trading session wherein turnover stood at Rs 531.63 crore.BSE Telecom index was top gainer among sectoral indices on BSE followed by BSE IT index. BSE Telecom index closed at 1,392 level, up by 51 points or 3.88%. Reliance Communications was the top gainer in the telecom sector. The stock closed at Rs 24.2 per share, up by 6.37%.Bharti Airtel closed at Rs 405 per share, up by 5.29%. Idea closed at Rs 87.15 per share, up by 4.5%.
