Nifty index has pared opening gains to trade in negative territory. There are 37 advances and 14 declines in the index showing negative undertone in the market. Only pharma stocks have been trading in positive terrain.Heavyweight bank stocks including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and PNB have been trading in negative territory, down by more than 1%. Bank stocks have been pulling down the major indices in the market.
Bank Nifty index is trading at 24,775 level, down by 189 points or 0.76%. PNB is top loser in the index trading at Rs 142 per share, down by 1.93%. The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 32,259 down 140 points, while Nifty is trading at 10,089 down 51 points. A total of 44 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 14 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. There are 336 advances, 1,263 declines and 358 unchanged stocks on NSE.
