Equity benchmarks ended lower after a consolidation on Wednesday as investors looked for cues from Federal Reserve monetary policy meeting.The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 1.86 points at 32,400.51 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 6.40 points to 10,141.15. ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, IOC, HUL, Hero Motocorp, BPCL and Kotak Mahindra Bank were down 1-2 percent whereas ITC, Reliance Industries, HDFC, L&T and Dr Reddy's Labs gained.
