Oil marketing companies have slipped to negative territory in the closing hour dragging down the major indices in the market. Finance Ministry is unlikely to roll back fuel excise tax hike due to fiscal constraints, reported a leading news agency.
BSE Oil & Gas index is trading at 15,260 level, down by 237 points or 1.53%. BPCL is top loser in the index trading at Rs 505 per share, down by 5.36%. Other Oil marketing company stocks which are losing on the bourses include Hindustan Petroleum, IOC, OIL, IGL and Petronet LNG.
There are 833 advances, 790 declines and 336 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting mixed sentiments floating in the market.The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 32,223 up 64 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 10,087 down 5 points. A total of 95 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 14 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
